We were approached by Anne to produce a new look website for her fashion blog, which would also encompass her styling work.
She required an overall visual facelift of her current site hosted on Blogspot, which was very limited in its appearance, and subject to the restrictions that Blogspot incur with their services. The site was to be a simple to navigate, and content rich. With large images and artistic design to compliment the large amount of text displayed on each page.
We first created a visually stunning background using imagery from one of the many shoots that Anne has styled. Adding in splashes of color, manipulated images of roses, abstract shapes, vintage textures, and splashes of ink; all of which are intended to create some form of relevance to the fashion and artistic industries.
On top of this we placed a 3 column structure to house 3 different blog streams under the headings of ‘Featured Posts’, ‘Fashion’, and ‘Style’. This means new posts can be identified quickly under their corresponding category. For example, a typical layout is made up of 2 columns; one column which houses blog posts, and the other called a sidebar. When a new post is published, it becomes the first post at the top of the column. And the post which was previously at the top moves down.
In this layout (below) there are 3 columns. So if a new post is only posted in the ‘Style’ category, only those posts move down. And the other two columns are not touched. This allows for continued exposure of old and archived posts; which lead to more hits to your website, and therefore help towards your position in Search Engines like Google (SEO).
Overall, the design of the site is very editorial like a magazine, which compliments its purpose as a fashion and style blog.

An earlier concept for background imagery included the below :
